| Christina Privette, Health & Fitness Instructor, Lifestyle Coach
Certified Group Fitness Instructor, AFAA
Certified Yoga Instructor, YogaWorks
Christina Privette grew up in San Luis Obispo, CA. In 2004, Christina graduated from UCSB with a BA in Sociology. During her time in Santa Barbara, Christina took her first yoga class; it was love at first downward dog. After receiving a Masters in Education in 2007 Christina went to work at Loyola Marymount University in the Office of First Year Experience. Her role at Loyola Marymount was to educate and support first year students in their transition from high school to college. In this role, she oversaw Welcome Weekend, Orientation, and a team of 12 peer mentors who put on educational and social events for the students. As her role at LMU expanded, Christina was given the opportunity of teaching a Healthy Living course for first year students and also became a fitness instructor. It was here she truly discovered her passion for helping others to become their best selves through health and fitness.
In April of 2011, she met Lisa, and in conversations with her, realized her current work felt like WORK and when she was educating students about health and wellness or motivating them in the fitness studio, that was FUN. In this process of self-realization, Lisa became Christina’s Wellness Coach, having weekly discussions over the phone about personal goals, motivations, and strengths. Through these conversations, Christina “saw the light” and made the difficult, but liberating decision to leave her full-time position at LMU to pursue work in health and wellness. She was so motivated by Lisa’s passion that she also enrolled in a Wellness Coaching program and is looking forward to becoming a certified Wellness Coach in the near future.
After getting to know the whole team-Lisa, Gigi and Rob, she was so inspired by their energy and enthusiasm; she couldn’t imagine a better place to spend her time. She is honored to be a part of the State of the Heart Fitness family and feels blessed to live out her passion daily. It is in the fitness studio, on the beach, or in the pool when she is helping people get in tune with their bodies that she feels fully alive. It is her goal to create an environment that helps calm your thoughts, focus on your body, and facilitate a mind/body transformation during, and long after, your workout. Her energy and enthusiasm will both challenge and inspire you.
When she’s not at State of the Heart, Christina loves spending time with her husband Kyle, chasing around her lab puppy, Dutch, camping, traveling, hiking, going to the beach with friends, cooking (although not well), playing tennis (again, not well;), reading, visiting her family in beautiful San Luis Obispo, and doing yoga.
Christina is AFAA group fitness certified, Pi-yo instructor certified, Yoga Barre certified and Yoga certified through YogaWorks. She also has studied to be a Wellness Coach.
