As one of the original founders & owner of State of the Heart
Fitness, Lisa brings a deep understanding of exercise physiology
and lifestyle coaching with 17 years of experience in designing
exercise/wellness programs for people of varying health concerns
and fitness levels. Lisa's philosophy and integration of all aspects
of wellness - physical, mental, emotional & spiritual
- is based on her education, years of working with people,
as well as her own personal experience with her own health. As President
of State of the Heart Fitness, she ensures all clients and employees
are well educated on the foundational elements of wellness, as well
as providing the highest level of professionalism and quality of
all programs & services. She is co-author of State of the Heart
Fitness' "Way to Wellness" journal and is also an enthusiastic public
speaker.
Prior to co-founding State of the Heart Fitness in 2001, Lisa worked
for 7 years as an Exercise Physiologist at the world-renowned Pritikin
Longevity Center® in Santa Monica, where she built a thorough
background working with individuals with diabetes, heart disease,
obesity and orthopedic issues. Working with Pritikin participants
on a daily basis allowed her the unique and deeply rewarding opportunity
to provide them with the proper knowledge, guidance and coaching
in making positive, uplifting and lasting lifestyle choices.
Before joining Pritikin, Lisa worked as a physiologist for Centinela
Hospital's Fitness Institute in Culver City, CA, where she performed
fitness testing and assessments on several of LA's professional
sports teams, such as the Lakers, Dodgers, and Kings.
As part of fulfilling her deep desire to help younger people discover
the value of health and to establish healthy habits for the rest
of their lives, Lisa served as an adjunct faculty member and taught
a required course called, "Health & Lifestyles" at Pepperdine
University in Malibu, CA.
Lisa's passion is touching people's hearts in a positive way, every single day. She has been a writer since she was 12 and is currently working on publishing her first book, "The Ride of My Life" - a personal memoir of life lessons learned from her horse of 27 years, Little Miss (whom is now 28 years old); experience Lisa's writing through her BLOG & newsletters.
Lisa also loves to travel and has traveled through Europe, SE Asia, Australia, Central & South America, and is looking to lead clients on active trips throughought the world that embody the body, mind, spirit aspects of ourselves. A trip to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru is on the list for 2010!
In addition to travel, Lisa loves reading, music of all kinds, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends including, of course, Little Miss!
