| Rob S. Robinson, CSCS- Certified Personal Fitness Trainer/Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist
Rob became a certified personal trainer in 2004 while still working in the computer sales industry selling enterprise-level computer hardware and services. In 2005, Rob decided to leave the corporate world behind to be a personal fitness trainer full-time. It was a tough decision but Rob was looking for a career that he had a passion for something he was actually interested in.
Rob has always been into fitness and sports. He was a competitive tennis player as a teenager. He became interested in resistance training and cardiovascular exercise just after graduating from college and has been enamored ever since. Even though it was his passion, it never dawned on him that he could make a living working in the fitness world until he attended an open-house orientation for the UCLA Extension 'Fitness Instruction Certificate Program'. He enrolled in 2002 and started his journey toward a career in health & wellness. He finished the program two years later and has never looked back.
In addition to the excitement Rob feels regarding health & fitness, another very important factor in him choosing this career was that he simply wants to help people... help them live healthier, happier lives. Whether it be weight loss, overcoming an injury, having more energy or just feeling better about themselves, Rob believes health & fitness is a key ingredient for a person finding true happiness and says "a consistent fitness routine is one of the best tools for dealing with the daily challenges of life. It is an excellent stress reliever and enables a person to both look & feel better."
In addition to weight training and tennis, Rob is also an avid triathlete, cyclist and runner. His first triathlon was the Los Angeles Triathlon in 2006, one of the largest races in the country, where he broke the top 10 of his age group finishing in 7th place. Other notable races Rob has competed in was the USAT Club Nationals at PumpkinMan in Boulder City, Nevada and the annual Camp Pendleton Triathlon.
Regarding why Rob loves working for State of the Heart Fitness: "I really like the vibe here. It's a very comforting, positive and upbeat atmosphere. It is quite unlike any other fitness facility I have ever been involved with. Lisa, Gigi and the rest of the staff are all very friendly, supportive and open. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. The clients are all wonderful as well. State of the Heart Fitness is a very rewarding place to be in many ways. I feel very fortunate to be able to be a part of it."
Rob is originally from Virginia and moved to California in 1997. Rob mentioned "Looking back, it was a huge step to take at the time but I made the decision to move to sunny CA rather quickly and nonchalant. I packed up my car and drove across the country! Somehow I just knew it was the right thing to do. I do miss my family and friends back in VA, but I feel this is where I'm supposed to be."
Rob has a BBA in Marketing from Radford University. In addition, he studied various courses such as physiology, biomechanics, anatomy and sports nutrition in the UCLA extension fitness program. When Rob is not working out or playing sports, he also volunteers at a local elementary school teaching the kids about health & fitness including topics such as proper nutrition and the importance of exercise. Rob also enjoys traveling, reading, all kinds of music, spending time w/ friends & family, Nichiren Buddhist philosophy, movies and of course, anything outdoors.
