Have you ever visited with someone and even though they are with you, you can feel their restlessness? You can see their mind is elsewhere, thinking about where they need to go or what they need to do next. Is there ever a time when that person is YOU?
Do you feel like your mind is often racing off into future moments and it's rare that you're ever present and content with right now? We all can get caught up in the non-stop thoughts spinning in our heads, but all of which, takes us away from truly being present with the moment at hand. But why does it matter? What's the big deal about being present? Being "present" can even be perceived as boring, especially when we're addicted to the maniacal workings of our mind.
What I have realized is that the more I can quiet my mind and be still, the more I can appreciate the time I'm with the people I care about. I also have more energy as time slows down. I am better able to hear my inner wisdom and accept life as it IS. I worry less, feel more calm, I'm less stressed, and I'm able to experience greater joy while feeling the love that is all around me.
There is a huge gift in presence, but we can only share it with others when we learn to give the gift to ourselves first.

When we have a goal, no matter what it might be, it's important to be able to monitor our progress. A business, for example, uses tangible financial markers to measure how well the action steps are working. When it comes to exercise, losing weight, or just making healthier changes in general, having monitors to measure that progress can be a huge help.
There are several tools that we recommend to assist you on your way to health and overall well-being. These tools, when used properly and consistently, can make the difference between establishing a lifetime of healthier habits or falling back into our old, unhealthy ones. Here are some tools we recommend:
Heart Rate Monitor: to really train your cardio-vascular system to its full potential and make it as fat burning efficient as possible, monitoring your heart rate is essential. Yes you get health benefits just from walking everyday or doing some kind of physical activity, but if you're not seeing changes or the results you are looking for in body composition, for example, a heart rate monitor is a MUST. Our heart is the most important muscle in the body, but oftentimes it can be the weakest, simply because we don't challenge it enough during exercise. When you can monitor your heart rate and know your specific training heart rate range, you will have greater success in improving the condition of your heart and cardio-vascular system, but also in the amount of fat you burn!
Pedometer: Our society is WAY too sedentary and as a result, obesity as an epidemic in our country. A pedometer is a perfect tool to give you an idea of many or how few steps you walk every day. The goal for optimal health is to walk 10,000 steps a day (approximately 5 miles). Many people, until they get a pedometer to measure their steps, walk less than 3000/day! Get a pedometer and be amazed at how conscious you become of being more active... almost instantly! It's eye opening!
Caltrac: This is a tool like a pedometer, but it keeps track of how many calories you expend a day through activity. In order to really lose weight, you have to know: 1.) your metabolic rate (how many calories you burn a day), 2.) how many calories you are consuming and, 3.) how many calories you are expending through activity! A Caltrac, like the pedometer, can be another great tool!
The tools are available and can be of great help.
Use them! Don't know where or how?

As exercise physiologists, personal trainers and fitness coaches, nothing gives us greater joy than helping others to lead healthier, happier lives. We love what we do, and we take our clients' health to heart.
To give you an idea of how we see our commitment to you, we'd like to share with you our "Fitness Coach's Creed" - adapted from Nikki Anderson's "Trainer's Creed" and the Idea Health & Fitness Association.
We are fitness coaches, educated to teach you how to live a more active life and how to take the safest and smartest route to a healthy lifestyle. We are not doctors, dietitians, psychologists or physical therapists. We are your coaches, educated to instill the correct exercise techniques and programs... no more, no less.
Therefore, as your fitness coaches:
- We can help you and inspire you, but we cannot cure you.
- We can give you proper education, but we cannot do the work for you.
- We can encourage you and challenge you, but we cannot prevent the natural peaks and valleys of your fitness journey.
- We can walk you through the process, but we can't guarantee it will be easy.
- We believe in you, but you must believe in yourself first.
- We can hope for years of active living, but only you can choose to be active.
- We can make you stronger, but we can't make you indestructible.
- We can hope that your success will inspire others' success, but you must believe that success is possible.
- We can give you the best of our experience, knowledge and encouragement, but in the end, it is you, our client, who must decide and commit to living the life that we know is possible for you.
- We know that only you can make it happen; only you can open yourself up to the realities of healthy living and allow yourself to be inspired. We are privileged everyday to inspire you and the rest of the world to fitness. Our profession is our passion and our purpose.

It is our honor and pleasure to coach you
to a life of greater health & happiness!
